Iron Maiden Announce North American Tour With Dream Theater :
Up the irons, people! British metal legends Iron Maiden announced to day that they're returning to the US for a six-week tour beginning in June. The Final Frontier Tour, named for the band's forthcoming album (which is tentatitvely set for a late summer release), will include New York prog-rock mavens Dream Theater as the opening act on most of the dates.

According to Maiden frontman (and sometime tour pilot) Bruce Dickinson, "We really wanted to get out and play some shows before the release of the new album later this year, so we thought what better way to kick off the tour than by going back to Canada and the USA where fans gave us such a fantastic reception during our last tour in 2008! We were astounded to see so many thousands of fans packing out the venues, so this time round we will be playing a few more cities we haven’t visited for some time, like Dallas, Saskatoon, Detroit, Denver and Pittsburgh, though logistically we couldn’t get to a few places we really like to play, which is a shame. It’s also great news that our friends Dream Theater are able to join us as special guests.

“We’re still working on the set list for these summer shows," Dickinson continues, "but this time it will cover the whole history of the band, and I can hint that we will be playing a taster from the new album. We already have the designs for the new Final Frontier stage show which we are building to bring out with us, so this summer tour will be a bit of a preview for the fans. It’s certainly looking very spectacular at this stage and with a brand new Eddie and an amazing light show!”

Iron Maiden concert"Touring with Iron Maiden in North America is a bit of a dream come true for us," adds Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy. "After 25 years together, at this stage in our career there's honestly only three bands Dream Theater would consider opening for...and Maiden is one of them! It is an absolute honor. Through the years, we've done many one-off shows with Maiden and they've almost all been overseas, so it is very exciting to finally be doing a full tour with them — and on our side of the pond no less! The tour visits regions in the US — like Texas and the Southwest — that we haven't played in many years, as well as some Canadian cities that have rarely, if ever, had the chance to see Dream Theater so it’s very exciting for us to get to play for our fans in these places. This is gonna be an amazing show that the fans won't wanna miss."

*If no event dates are listed above, then Iron Maiden is presently not on tour.

Iron Maiden Announce “Final Frontier” Tour 2013 :
Via an Official Press Release, Iron Maiden announced that they will kick off a North American tour that will give fans a preview songs from their upcoming album “Final Frontier.” The tour starts on June 9th in Dallas, TX. Iron Maiden will be taking prog metal heavyweights Dream Theater out as the support act for this tour. Thank Eddie they’re not hauling out ‘Arry’s daughter Lauren Harris again. What a train wreck that turned out to be.

This turned out to be a much more extensive tour than I thought even though Eddie & the boys have completely, once again, ignored the fact that they have fans in the Southeastern part of the United States! The last time they were here with Bruce was on the Fear of The Dark tour at Lakewood Amphitheater in ‘92 with Testament and Corrosion of Conformity. Great show. After that, we got stuck with Blaze Bayley as they sadly didn’t even sell out the 1500 capacity club The Masquerade. Since then, they have never been back to Atlanta. Look dudes, it’s not our fault that we all knew just how bad Blaze sucks!

Iron Maiden eddieAnyways, this tour should be a good one. And based one ‘Arry’s “15th Album” promise, one must wonder if this is going to be indeed the last original Iron Maiden album we’ll get. Maybe from here on out ‘Arry and Co will FINALLY release some of those hidden treasures that they are sitting on as you know there is a plethora of amazing archived audio and video footage. Either way, this tour should prove to be a great one and I couldn’t be more ecstatic to catch this one. Here’s what singer Bruce Dickinson had to say about it:

“We really wanted to get out and play some shows before the release of the new album later this year, so we thought what better way to kick off the tour than by going back to Canada and the USA where fans gave us such a fantastic reception during our last tour in 2008! We already have the designs for the new Final Frontier stage show which we are building to bring out with us, so this summer tour will be a bit of a preview for the fans. It’s certainly looking very spectacular at this stage and with a brand new Eddie and an amazing light show!”

“We are also trying to ensure that our fans get the tickets they want close to the stage without paying over the odds to ticket scalpers. This is something our manager Rod is working hard on so we hope to see many more familiar faces down the front having a great time. We will see you all soon”

Iron Maiden TourFrom their self-titled debut via their worldwide breakthrough album The Number of the Beast to the most recent masterpiece, A Matter of Life and Death, for over the last 30 years at the forefront of Metal, Iron Maiden have influenced everyone from massive acts such as Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer to aspiring metal stars Mastodon, Bullet for My Valentine, and Trivium, while selling over 80 million albums and packing arenas and stadiums worldwide. Renowned for their spectacular stage sets and uncompromising musicianship, during their ‘08-‘09 “Somewhere Back in Time World Tour” alone, they headlined in an astonishing 38 countries in front of two million fans. As vital and exciting as ever, Maiden never fail to put on the best possible show for their fans and give even the biggest stadiums the atmosphere of a club show with their intense communication with their audience.

Says vocalist Bruce Dickinson, “We really wanted to get out and play some shows before the release of the new album later this year, so we thought what better way to kick off the tour than by going back to Canada and the USA where fans gave us such a fantastic reception during our last tour in 2008! Iron Maiden tour datesContinues manager Rod Smallwood: “Like all bands, Maiden get fed up with the way fans sometimes pay more than the ticket price to get good positions at our shows. So we are trying, with the assistance of Live Nation and wherever possible subject to venue facilities, to arrange paperless ticketing at least for the front sections to try to eliminate as much of the ticket scalping as we can. Basically, with paperless ticketing, only those who actually pay for the ticket will get into the show so they are useless to scalpers. Furthermore, we are once again arranging ticket pre-sales for our fan club members so they can be quick off the mark for great tickets and will also continue to run the first to the barrier in appropriate venues for fan club members so they can enter a contest to be at the barrier prior to the show. We hope that these measures will help our fans as much as possible.

For our fan club members the tour will also see the return of IMTV on our website www.ironmaiden.com, which has regular footage for the live shows, touring, band interviews, insights into our crew and what they do and much, much more, along with the diaries, exclusive photographs and anything else that helps our fans get a real insight into the dynamics of a big tour”

Iron Maiden Biography (Short bio on Iron Maiden) :
Taking its name from the medieval torture device, Iron Maiden was part of England's late-Seventies crop of heavy-metal bands that boasted simple guitar riffs, bone-crunching chords and shrieking vocals.

Formed in 1976 by bassist Steve Harris (b. March 12, 1957, London) and guitarist Dave Murray (b. Dec. 23, 1958, London), Iron Maiden has had a revolving-door lineup of musicians. The first incarnation of the band was inspired by the do-it-yourself punk ethos, and the group released an EP, The Soundhouse Tapes, on its own label, Rock Hard Records. Iron Maiden, the band's 1980 debut album for major label Capitol Records, was pure, unadulterated, screaming heavy metal. It reached the Top Five in Britain; the following year's Killers went to Number 12. America was slower to embrace the denim- and leather-clad group, which distinguished itself from its peers with unusually literate songs (written by Harris) full of hellish imagery (the melting faces in "Children of the Damned"), with themes borrowed from films ("The Number of the Beast," inspired by The Omen II) and ancient mythology ("Flight of Icarus"). Iron Maiden was one of the few bands of any genre to employ a mascot, a ten-foot rotting corpse named Eddie.

number of the beast by iron maidenThe Number of the Beast, featuring new vocalist Bruce Dickinson (b. Paul Bruce Dickinson, Aug. 7, 1958, Worksop, Eng.), topped the album chart in Britain and initiated a streak of seven consecutive platinum or gold albums in the United States, despite virtually no radio or MTV exposure. The followup, 1983's Piece of Mind, reached Number 14 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart, and 1984's Powerslave went to Number 21 on the Billboard 200. By then, Iron Maiden were superstars of heavy metal and remained in the Top 25 of Billboard's dominant album chart for several subsequent releases: Live After Death (Number 22, 1985), Somewhere In Time (Number 23, 1987), Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (Number 12, 1988), No Prayer for the Dying (Number 17, 1990), Fear of the Dark (Number 12, 1992). No Prayer for the Dying was Maiden's last studio album to go gold in the U.S.; it contained "Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter," a song originally recorded by Dickinson alone for the Nightmare on Elm Street, Part 5 soundtrack. Dickinson's solo version went to Number One in the U.K. Guitarist Adrian Smith (b. Feb. 27, 1957, London), who had joined in 1980, left in 1990 to form A.S.A.P. with drummer Zak Starkey, son of Ringo Starr. Janick Gers replaced Smith. Dickinson left in 1993, replaced by Blaze Bayley.

Iron Maiden weathered its numerous personnel changes without a hitch, continuing to put out albums (three live discs as well as 1995's The X Factor and 1998's Virtual XI), although they weren't as successful as the band's earlier releases. Dickinson – who became a top-rated fencer and swordsman, a published novelist (The Adventures of Lord Iffy Boatrace) and solo singer – reunited with the band in 1999, as did Smith. The revived, Dickinson-fronted Maiden went on to have a second successful career, releasing another string of charting albums including Brave New World (Number 39, 2000), Dance of Death (Number 18, 2003) and A Matter of Life and Death (Number 9, 2006). The group's three-disc greatest-hits album of 1999, Ed Hunter, spawned a namesake Maiden video game. As of 2008, Iron Maiden continues to tour and record.
